Defect Summary

Waymo llc (waymo) is recalling certain 5th generation automated driving systems (ads) operating a software version prior to the november 5, 2025 release. The software may cause the vehicle to pass a stopped school bus even when the red lights are flashing and/or stop arm is extended.

Safety Consequence

Passing a stopped school bus increases risk of crash with a pedestrian.

Corrective Action

Waymo has updated the ads software, free of charge. All affected vehicles were repaired by november 17, 2025.
