Defect Summary

Navistar, inc. (navistar) is recalling certain 2019 international lt heavy diesel trucks equipped with feature codes 29way, 504312, and 504455. the lightweight brake drums with slack adjusters may drag against the brakes causing the drums to overheat which can result in the brake drum cracking, separating from the vehicle or the brakes becoming inoperative.

Safety Consequence

If the brake drum separates or if the brakes become inoperative, it can increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Action

Navistar has notified owners, and dealers will replace the brake drums and slack adjusters and replace the brake linings, free of charge. the recall began on may 23, 2018. owners may contact navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825. navistar's number for this recall is 18507.
