Defect Summary

Vehicle description: certain sport utility vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 208, "occupant crash protection." these vehicles were built without the proper air bag labeling on the passenger side air bag cover.

Safety Consequence

This label informs the front passenger of that seating position's air bag and that certain safety precautions need to be taken by the seat's occupant.

Corrective Action

Owners will be provided with a "srs air bag" warning label and installation instructions. owner notification began july 25, 2001. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact europa at 1-888-538-7672.
