Incorrect weld may cause seat failure/fmvss 207, 210
Defect Summary
Newell coach corp. (newell) is recalling certain 2022 p50 coaches. The pedestal mounting plate may have been improperly welded, causing the plate to separate and the seat assembly to loosen or detach. As such, these seat assemblies fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) numbers 207, "seating systems" and 210, "seat belt assembly anchorages."
Safety Consequence
A loose or detached seat assembly may not restrain the occupant as intended, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
Corrective Action
Newell will inspect for a missing weld and replace the pedestal seat as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed december 2, 2025. Owners may contact newell customer service at 1-888-363-9355.
