Defect Summary

Certain caterpillar c7 diesel engines installed as original equipment in 2008 blue bird vision school buses. the oil fill cap may separate from the oil fill tube allowing engine oil to be emitted from the tube. oil could wet the left front brake resulting in reduced braking capacity.

Safety Consequence

A vehicle crash can occur.

Corrective Action

Caterpillar will notify owners and replace the oil fill tube assembly free of charge. the recall began on december 14, 2007. owners can contact caterpillar toll-free at 800-447-4986.
