Defect Summary
Equipment description: taillamp assemblies which were not manufactured with reflex reflectors and side marker lamps as required under federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."
Safety Consequence
Without the reflective material, the vehicle may not be clearly visible to other motorists which could result in a vehicle crash.
Corrective Action
Jkl will notiy dealers/owners to return the noncompliant lamps for a free replacement. owner notification began may 1, 2001. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact jkl at 510-782-6262.
