Equipment description: axle assemblies produced from june 14 through july 15, 1999; from october 4 through november 14, 1999; and from may 15 through june 23, 2000, which may have been manufactured with trw model 20-edl ball sockets. The tie rod ball-socket bearings have a below specification case depth and/or hardness which can lead to premature deterioration of the socket in some applications.

Corrective Action

Arvinmeritor has notified their original equipment manufacturers. trw will be contacting the customers and instructing them on how and where to have their vehicle repaired free of charge.
